FOODIE 101** Melbourne Fave Belle’s Hot Chicken Hits Barangaroo

If I had to name two words that get me salivating more than most, fried chicken would have to be right up near the top of the list.  So hearing the news that Melbourne’s popular Southern-style fried chicken joint, Belle’s Hot Chicken, has made its way to Sydney for nine months of glorious pop-up action at Barangaroo has got me just a little bit excited.

Kicking off on Wednesday 25th November, Sydneysiders will finally get to sink their teeth into the renowned Nashville Hot Chicken, which joins a variety of casual eateries at the south end of Barangaroo’s new lifestyle hub Wulugul Pop-Up.  The brainchild behind it all is Australian and International Chef Morgan McGlone, who following his time soaking up the culture and food scene in Nashville, Charlestone, had the burning desire to bring the delicious hot chicken to the masses at home.

The Fitzroy favourite has people lining up at all hours to get their spice fix while jamming to Belle’s hip hop-heavy soundtrack on vinyl, and McGlone thinks it’s high time Sydney got a taste of the action.

“After witnessing an overwhelming positive response since opening Belle’s in Melbourne, and giving Sydneysiders a taste with the small pop ups over the last year, we knew it was only fair to bring some of the fried chicken goodness up to Sydney permanently, and the Barangaroo precinct felt like the perfect location,” he said.

Belle’s Hot Chicken is open seven days from 11am and will feature all of the signature offerings from the Melbourne store as well as house-made drinks including lemonade, ice teas and kombucha.  With the promise of mouth-watering chicken traveling fast, there’s sure to be a rush when the doors open tomorrow.  So if you see a random hungry-looking guy camping at the storefront in the early hours of the morning, come and say hi!
