Bali is one of the most captivating Island getaways and just a stone’s throw away from Sydney (about a 6 hour flight to be exact). It’s an absolute travellers paradise for Sydneysiders with its vast cultural and social scene, and here’s why.
ULUWATU
The most picturesque resort in Uluwatu, hands down! Waking up in this paradise uncovers your own slice of heaven. A favourite for couples and groups when visiting Bali, The Ungasan features seven luxury villas, which offer exclusive and private accommodation and dedicated personal butler service for up to 10 guests. In each stunning villa, you’ll find large dining rooms, a media and entertainment room, as well as a number of guest bedrooms, with a master suite opening up to views of the ocean. Best of all, each villa contains its own infinity pool overlooking the clifftop to the incredible Indian Ocean. You’ll be treated to a luscious breakfast each morning at Selatan restaurant, which is open till late to satisfy all of your cravings or you can choose to have your beach and dining fix at Sundays Beach club, which is just an inclinator ride away. Vela Spa covers all your pampering needs and a putting green, tennis court and state-of-the-art gym are all there for your leisure. Did we forget to mention the resort has it’s own helipad?! Just in case you want to take the scenic route.
This is our favourite beach club in Bali and it’s easy to see why. Its waters are crystal clear glistening with majestic shade of turquoise, a far cry from Seminyak’s murky waters. Here you’ll find your very own oasis, where time is non-existent and choosing from its variety of delicious fare and cocktails is the only thing that will occupy your mind. Despite the name, to our delight Sundays is open every day and if you’re a guest of The Ungasan, entry is free and too easily accessible. Never fear if not, it’s just a short taxi ride away and a small fee of 300,000 IDR (which includes a food and drink voucher) to laze and graze all day. An array of water sports and activities are also on offer, available for all to enjoy at no extra cost. Kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and surfing are all on the cards with friendly life guards on duty to show you how it’s done. Happy hour starts from 4pm, so stay and play whilst watching local and international DJ’s and take in the spectacular sunsets of Uluwatu. This haven also hosts nightly bonfires, so you can grab a beanbag and toast some marshmallows with a cocktail in hand and reflect on the day that was.
El Kabron Spanish Restaurant & Cliff Club
A taste of Spain in the heart of Uluwatu. El Kabron boasts some of the most gorgeous sunsets and a delectable tapas menu to boot. Upon arrival you’ll be escorted to your preferred area – whether that’s at the restaurant for a bite to eat, by the pool on the deck chairs to lay all day, on the outdoor tables to watch the sunset with friends or the VIP balcony for a little privacy. Chilled house music played by local and international DJs sets the completely relaxing and European vibe and the pool is there to cool you down, so you can last all the way through to sundown – also a great spot to watch the magical sunset from. The menu is delicious and filled with an assortment of traditional Spanish morsels designed for sharing. A really unique and amazing experience for couples and larger groups.
SEMINYAK
The creme de la creme of Seminyak stays, this internationally acclaimed resort lives up to its 5 star reputation. Upon arrival you feel as if you’ve been transported to a private paradise of epic proportions. The dynamic vibe of the resort can be felt as soon as you drive through it’s gates, with friendly staff to greet you at each corner. Once you’re checked in, a world of wonders awaits you – from a huge swim up pool that pans around the resort overlooking the beach to the collection of modern rooms, suites and villas that cater to your every whim. A host of amazing dining and wining destinations are all within its vicinity, including the acclaimed Fire and Starfish Bloo restaurants, whilst Woobar is your post-dining destination to share sunset sunset drinks and last well into the night, with its underground bar and nightclub.
The best steak in Bali can be found at this contemporary kitchen, which is open for breakfast and dinner. This tantalising bar and grill features fire cooked prime meats and the freshest seafood. You’ll be welcomed to beautiful and modern decor with an unpretentious environment, whilst watching the expert chefs in action at the vibrant open kitchen. One of our favourite features is the meat sommelier, who brings over a board of prime meat and explains each one with such finesse and detail. Only the best cuts are on offer with a selection that is truly mind blowing – from the very rare and lean to the heavily aged and marble pieces, there is a steak to satisfy every taste bud. An absolutely delightful dining experience from start to finish!
Situated in in the heart of the W, Woobar is the place to be for sublime tunes, a quaint setting and a great crowd at the ready. The bar features an amazing food and cocktail list as well as a buzz that spills over from the W pool and beachfront. This is another prime spot to watch the sun go down and bask in the ambiance. Woobar also plays host to Bali’s notorious SPF party, with the yearly celebration attracting a crowd from all over the world to see some of the top international DJ’s and huge fireworks displays on offer. The party begins in the day time and the festitives continue all through the night. Held in late July each year, this is a must for avid partygoers.

Here, you’ll enjoy some of Asia’s delights with a creative and modern twist, whilst overlooking the beautiful waves of Bali. If you’re up for a spin on some traditional favourites, yhe Mixed BBQ Platter of Roast Duck, Soy Sauce Chicken, Crispy Pork Belly & Char Siew Pork complete with a set to make your own Asian style savoury pancakes is a highlight as well as the delicious Lobster Fried rice.
A real institution known and loved by everyone that graces the shores of Bali. Potato Head promises an experience like no other, from it’s unique décor made from 18th Century teak window shutters to the infinity pool that runs off the edge to overlook the dazzling Indian Ocean. The infamous day club features two world acclaimed restaurants including Lilan, which serves some of the best authentic Indonesian cuisine as well as the poolside menu which includes gourmet pizzas, salads and other tasty western delights. Book a bed and spend the day grazing in the sun and sipping on some of the best cocktails in Bali or just swim up to the floating bar to order your drink, whatever floats your boat.
One of Seminyak’s hippest eateries, at Tiger Palm you’ll find fragrant dishes from streets and kitchens all over Asia which have been created with the best produce. KUTA
This is the only 5-star resort in Kuta with views over the serene Ocean.
