This Friday get down to the Underground – the Civic Underground that is – with a thumping night, Under The Radar, presented by Sydney legends Eclipse Music Events.
The small club underneath the Civic Hotel on Pitt St is one of the few city venues with a killer soundsystem, late night licensing and regular quality line ups. So it’s the perfect venue for new night Under The Radar.
As Dan from Eclipse says “It’s all about the underground and we are going all out on the music & the production for this one. Sound & Lighting adds so much to any event and if we pull off what we have in mind, it will be our best party to date!”
This week there are two very well-known and respected DJs from around the Sydney and Australian circuit leading the party noise.
ROBBIE LOWE
Robbie has always owned a warm house and tech-house sound. Vibey, underground baselines, snappy percussion and warmth in his choice of melodies. Hi programming is diverse, deep and deadly with pin point accuracy; he never loses the flow. And as far as mixing, he’s the tightest of them all. Steady as a rock.
Staying true to what he loves, Robbie’s consistency as a selector of superior, non-commercial electronic sounds sees him at the top of his game, and has pegged him as the ‘go to’ guy for the most important of jobs. He has toured the world and played warm up sets for some of the world’s most respected underground artists.
Robbie Lowe is a gentleman, a special DJ with a deep understanding of music. His fans and friends alike love him.
TRISTAN CASE
Tristan Case is a Sydney based, UK born Producer & DJ who is about to hit the big time (you heard it here first). He has just been announced as the opener on the Main Stage at Electric Gardens (the only local to be on that stage) and has recently supported international legends Mr C and Carl Cox.
With over 10 years experience his unique style of deep, bassy house, captivates his audience on the dance-floor and keeps them bouncing long into the night. Showcasing at Circoloco, Space, Sankeys, AGWA , S*A*S*H, Spice, Subsonic, Return To Rio, T1000 and Finely Tuned, Tristan has established himself comfortably in the thick of the Sydney clubbing scene as a forward thinking house DJ and is one to always take the crowd on his unique personal musical journey, with explosive energetic performances. ECLIPSE
Eclipse consists of Dan Bayton, Scott Rotton & Ciaran Finnegan ( NZ ). Between them they have played clubs in the UK, Thailand, Vietnam, Bali, Auckland New Zealand and right here in Sydney.
Eclipse was founded by Dan Bayton & Ciaran Finnegan 3 years ago in Auckland, NZ. After a year Dan moved to Sydney and wanted to keep his passion for the music and Eclipse rolling. Dan & Scott are long time friends from the UK so it made sense to put the knowledge and passion together to take the reigns Sydney side. They held their first party to a sell out crowed at a Kings Cross venue and the ball rolled from then on.
Eclipse symbolises not just the sound of the music they play but the feel it gives them and most importantly the party goers that attend all of their gigs. Even though they only started playing around Sydney 18 months they had a very successful first Summer. The highlights where playing at the Greenwood Hotel for Sankeys, giving support to two of their favourite DJs and producers Darious Syrossian and Yousef and then to an absolute house legend and pioneer of house music Danny Rampling.
House music to them like many others is not just a passing fad or something that is fashionable at this present time. Scott and Dan have been listening to house since the mid 90s and have been inspired by many musical genius’s, including the late Frankie Knuckles (RIP) , Larry Levan, Carl Cox and John Digweed amongst others.
This summer they kicked off by holding a boat party with a live sax which went down a treat. They then went on to play Christmas Eve at Marco Polo ivy, closed a room at SPACE NYD and have since been booked for another pool party plus a rooftop party is in the pipeline. These boys are definitely the ones to look out fo on the Sydney scene. Scott is also soon to release his first track on a UK based label so watch this space!
