Sydney’s CBD has a new restaurant hot spot is Kanade! Kanade’s menu features a blend of traditional Japanese flavours with contemporary and Italian twists.
Complimenting the menu is a drinks list expertly crafted by top industry professionals from Maybe Sammy and Tetsuya. The unique range of Japanese-inspired cocktails pushes the boundaries of mixology. From sharing-friendly cocktails served in sake barrels to secretive experimental cocktails, some of which are a first in Australia, the menu is designed to surprise and delight guests.
The interior of Kanade harmoniously blends traditional Japanese elements with contemporary accents, fully embodying the restaurant’s theme. Nestled within a heritage building, brick and timber walls adorned with retro Tokyo vibes blend seamlessly with red timber columns that emulate the iconic torii gates of Japan. Semi-private dining rooms offer a cozy space for intimate gatherings, whether for business or pleasure, while the open 360-degree stone sushi counter creates a theatrical dining experience, allowing diners to witness the skilled preparation of their sushi.
Sydney Social 101 recently popped into Kanade for dinner! To start we devoured a bowl of the full of flavor Edamame and Yukari- so moreish! Next we shared the Crispy Fried Vegan Gyoza served with a generous helping of sweet chili and mayo.
We then decided to share a few mains as it was too difficult to decide what to have. We shared the delicious, melt in your mouth Zucchini and Eggplant miso gratin, the fresh Teriyaki salmon served with an onsen egg and the Japanese Mentaiko Spaghetti. We were particularly impressed and exicted by the Metaiko spaghetti as we had never tried Japanese and Italian fusion before and it didn’t dissappoint- Aldente pasta served with spicy cod roe, lime, olive oil, a touch cream and garnished with Shiso and Nori.
Not only was the food amazing but the service was too. The wait staff we very attentive and the owner made his way around to each table to ensure each guest was enjoying themselves and the food!
Kanade is in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, at 62 Clarence St, and is open for lunch Monday to Friday and dinner Monday to Saturday.
