Because it’s fashion week, we are going a little fashion crazy here at Sydney Social 101. Not only did we get the chance to cover the opening night of MBFWA, but we also had the chance to sit front row and centre at the incredible Leonardo Salinas SS15/16 runway.
The collection unveiled was Concept Woman and featured incredible timeless and haute couture pieces. With classic silhouettes, intricately detailed design and a soft neutral palate with metallic tones, the collection truly embraced femininity – it was absolutely stunning.
The most outstanding piece of the night was a breathtakingly beautiful floor-length gown, needing two male models just to hold the lengthy train (I wonder if they come with the dress too!?) and an extravagant collar reminiscent of the Elizabethan era – it was truly fit for a queen.
Beading, lace, tulle and cut out detail featured heavily, with designs that flattered a womanly figure and revealed just enough skin, the collection felt feminine and sophisticated with a contemporary flare. Metallic makeup also made a huge statement – so who knows, maybe gold lipstick could be the next big thing?
Held at Sydney’s Technological Park in Eveleigh, it was a full house tonight with buyers, media and bloggers alike all in attendance. The show-stopping pieces in the Concept Woman collection marked Leonardo Salinas’ first ever Australian show, and it certainly wont be the last. Here are some more of our favourite pictures we captured from the show.
