Family owned Asian food company Lokvale Group started business in 2010 with the opening of Lok Lok Dumpling Bar. Since then, this humble little restaurant, which created a culinary fusion of Asian and Australian cultures, has become a successful chain, with several stores opening all over Sydney. Growing further across the restaurant industry, Lokvale Group then opened a Chinese restaurant – Mama’s Wok. Their expansion continues with Lok Lok Dumpling Bar in Darling Harbour opening for business on 15 December 2014, and Mama’s Wok – Yum Cha & Bar in Macarthur Square in January 2015. This makes eleven Lok Lok Dumpling Bars, and two Mama’s Woks in total by early next year.

Keeping in line with their motto “Taste of Joy”, the Lokvale family group has been using only the best expertise and research data in substantiating their expansion, constantly bringing new ideas and methodologies to every aspect of their operations. This year, Lokvale Group has raised their menus and restaurant practices to another level, following the release of an independent study into Australian eating habits – the Good Business Sense Eating Habits 2014 National Study. This research study looked into seasonal foods, purchasing and eating habits and has gathered invaluable data on the relationship between health and consumer trends.

With over 25 years of experience in research and branding, Good Business Sense (GBS) specialises in the measurement, tracking and improvement of the market positioning of customers and business processes. They are currently focused on connecting Eastern and Western eating habits through its research studies on seasonal harvesting. As a GBS initiative, the Yummy Times Campaign has been established, a modern concept that promotes seasonal food, and the Asian lifestyle practices of eating for wellbeing, to strike a balance between health, taste and environment.

Just some of Lokvale Group initiatives in line with these research findings include incorporating seasonal ingredients into their restaurant menus, as well as subscribing to sustainable restaurant practices. At Mama’s Wok they source fresh produce from Australian local markets, serve free-range chicken, and use their own water filter system to deliver an environmentally sustainable alternative to bottled water. Lok Lok Dumpling Express, the latest addition under the Lok Lok Dumpling Bar brand which has recently opened in The Galeries in Sydney CBD, is also doing its bit for the planet by using energy efficient kitchen equipment and lighting. Lokvale Group is at the forefront of the Asian food industry, and there is a chance to take part in their success with franchising opportunities now available at Lok Lok Dumpling Bar.
