There’s a belief going a round that gin makes you cry, well I must add that if this is true, it must be tears of happiness, as quite frankly gin makes me happy! It is also a fact that The Lord Dudley is my favourite pub in the whole of Australia, so you can imagine my delight when I heard about ‘Hayman’s Gin Supper Club’ that was taking place in The Garden Restaurant in The Lord Dudley Hotel throughout October 2017.
In a match made in heaven that will no doubt bring together food and gin lovers alike, the family owned and operated duo have together curated the perfect blend of gin cocktails expertly paired to English style fare which will be on offer in the Dudley’s newly renovated Garden restaurant – a whimsical English garden oasis set within the basement of this iconic British pub.
From a French 75 cocktail with Cured Salmon, to a Lamb Rump with a Sloe & Tonic or a Negroni with a Pork and Veal Terrine, diners will be invited to explore the menu and choose from food and drink combinations ranging from $25.00 for an entrée and cocktail, $40.00 for a main and cocktail and the Supper Club Special featuring one entrée, one main and two cocktails for the pretty price of $60.00.
Here at Sydney Social 101 we were so fortunate enough to be invited to preview the menu and the cocktails in advance of the opening, and my were were thrilled with the evening! We were even driven to the venue in a London Black cab! Safe to say I felt right at home!
Our evening began with a tasting with James Hayman, co-founder and fifth-generation distillery, who talked us through the different gins, from sloe gin to London Dry Gin and Old Tom’s gin, we found out what they were best matched with and the story behind each of them.
Following the tasting we were invited downstairs to The Garden Restaurant to enjoy cocktails, samples of the delicious menu and fine company!
