Find the perfect drop at the inaugural High Country Wine and Cheese Festival
For cheese and wine connoisseurs and foodie lovers around Australia, the first ever High Country Wine and Cheese Festival will provide a luxurious weekend filled with Yalumba Wines and King Island Dairy cheeses, plus the inaugural Thredbo Cheese Rolling Competition, in one of the most picturesque mountain settings Australia has to offer.
Hosted at Thredbo on the 14th – 15th March, guests will have the chance to taste the floral notes and deep, woody tannins of the stunning Yalumba Wine collection, provided by one of Australia’s oldest, and most renowned family-owned wineries. Some of the country’s finest sommeliers will also be on hand throughout the weekend to lead informative master classes, allowing guests insights into the calculated and precise process of formulating the perfect drop.
Whilst fine wine and cheese is at the top of the agenda, anyone looking for an adrenalin fix won’t be let down. The Thredbo Cheese Rolling Competition, the first event of its kind to be held in the area, will see people of all ages pitted against each other to chase a King Island Dairy cheese wheel down a retired ski run. Women’s, Men’s and Kids Divisions will be available, meaning that everyone has a chance at becoming the cheese rolling champion.
Guests will be able to wine and dine in style throughout the weekend, with the Poolside Wine Tasting showcasing a large portfolio of Samuel Smith beverages, accompanied by informative master classes from Yalumba Wines and King Island Diary Cheeses. Later in the day, the Progressive Food Tour will treat guests to five of the best dining experiences Thredbo has to offer, each course paired with Yalumba Wines, ending with guests enjoying some of Australia’s finest sticky wines while watching the sun set behind the mountain peaks.
Accompanied by live music and entertainment, the inaugural High Country Wine and Cheese Festival is an event not to be missed for those who enjoy the finer things in life. Registrations are now open, so get in quickly to secure your chance to win.
