In another week that had our heads spinning with all the action, we’ve recapped all the best bits for you guys.

Antipodes Superfood Serum Launch

We headed to BOSCAGE last week, a stunning little eatery in Surry Hills with the most amazing food and beverages to find out that New Zealand beauty brand Antipodes is donating NZD$60,000 to World Wide Fund for Nature – New Zealand (WWF-New Zealand) from the sales of its latest product offering, Chia & Kiwi Seed Superfood Serum. Such an amazing cause!
The CEO of Antipodes Elizabeth Barbalich told us, “Antipodes is very excited to be aligning with the world’s largest and most experienced independent conservation organisation. Both WWF-New Zealand and Antipodes are passionate about environmental protection, so it is gratifying to be dedicating funds from our latest premium natural product to help such important work.”

Comprising a superfine blend of oils from two of the world’s greatest superfoods – chia and New Zealand kiwifruit – it is a highly nutritious, oil-based serum that helps feed skin to restore youthful vitality and natural sheen.
The company has brought its usual high green beauty ethos to the launch of Chia & Kiwi Seed Superfood Serum: made in New Zealand it features premium natural plant ingredients from sustainable sources, NATCO certified natural fragrances of jasmine and ylang ylang, a recyclable glass bottle, and biodegradable cardboard packaging printed with 100% vegetable ink – Just what we like to hear!

Cleo Bachelor of the Year Party

When the invitation to the CLEO Bachelor of the Year 2015 party at Arq arrived I was naturally appalled at the blatant sexism and gratuitous male flesh on display…and immediately accepted so I could go and disapprove of it close up! This year the party took the theme of Magic Mike XXL and Arq was suitably decked out with podiums, glitter and fake paper money to throw at the troupe of dancers who stripped to their pants. The finalists and various slebs mingled with the crowds and the lads seemed very tolerant of the many female guests who kept lifting up their T shirts to check their abs and asking for selfies. Of course I wasn’t one of them *ahem* The somewhat unexpected winner was AFL player Matt Buntine and he looked suitably surprised and pleased to receive his prize. Bless.

Simmer Huang ‘Simmer Series’ tasting

With summer bursting in on us there’s one sure thing we can do to celebrate the sun and that’s start with the sizzling sensation Three Cups Chicken dish from Master Chef competitor, food blogger and author Billy Law. He’s teamed up with internationally renowned Chinese hot pot restaurants Simmer Huang for their Simmer Series and boy are we in for a treat!

Billy Law and his Simmer Huang Three Cup Chicken Simmer Pot

For the Summer months, Simmer Huang will be serving up Billy’s delicious ‘Three Cups Chicken’ Simmer Pot. Just like his days on Master Chef, Billy had to design a recipe around the key ingredients he was given to work with. I asked him when he was creating this dish if Simmer Huang shared the ingredients to their secret sauces and spices to help him along, but with a laugh he said, they still kept it secret even from him. And it’s no wonder as their CEO, Geng Huang’s ancestor was Master Chef to the Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, and his grandfather a chef to the royal family. With a lineage like that you can imagine the care and skill that’s gone into perfecting their sauces over the centuries.

That’s the same kind of passion Billy brought to his creation. He took a long look and a good taste of their menu to find the right angle for his dish. Then choose chicken as a strong base for his dish as he cast his eye over Asia to find something that would bring out the spices and ingredients in the traditional simmer pot. This was when he found Three Cups Chicken, another traditional Chinese recipe, though from the Jiangxi province in the south. It’s found a lot of popularity in Taiwan as well. He found it had the right balance of flavours to bring out the soft spice in Simmer Huang’s sauces — and I have to say I agree. But don’t take our word for it, duck out of the heat and slip into Simmer Huang’s for lunch and dinner and try Billy’s Simmer Three Cup chicken yourself. AP.

Together Chan and Jefferson’s art exemplified the creativity, originality and passion of the skateboarding community. Bringing to life these skate-able sculptures, the Oakley skate team Sean Malto, Curren Caples, Chima Ferguson, Sammy Winter, Josh Paul and Juan Onekawa, skated the sculptures in a studio setting which produced an amazing series of artistic photographs.

Celebrities, media, industry and Sydney’s art and skate communities were invited for the unveiling of the exclusive gallery including TV personality Jake Rich, Australia’s Next Top Model star Abbey Weir, musician Hein Cooper, skate photographer Andrew Peters, Australian skater Sammy Winter and model girlfriend Mateja Buila, model Gigi Midgley, Mitch Ross of Life Without Andy, Fashion Designer, Jameen Zalfen of Dyspnea, and fashion bloggers Yan Yan Chan and Arianne Witt.

There was great food and drink provided by Budweiser, Bulleit bourbon and Nighthawk Diner. We had a fun night celebrating the final party for Oakley In Residence.
