Sydney Social 101 attended Nana Mouskouri at State Theatre Sydney on Sunday 12th April for an exclusive concert.

Nana Mouskouri is one of the top selling female vocalists with fans in every corner of the globe, the much loved ‘White Rose of Athens’, who has sold over 300 million albums is in Australia as part of her world tour where she has been celebrating her 80th birthday as well as the composers and writers who inspired her singing throughout the years.

She is still among the top 10 best-selling artists in the world and still travels to sell out performances all around the world. Nana Mouskouri belongs to a select group of performers that have remained at the top for decades appearing in the list of the twenty-five best-selling artists in the world, ahead of Madonna and Celine Dion and has amassed a staggering list of sales, awards and recognitions.

Nana Mouskouri has recorded songs in many languages, including Greek, French, English, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Hebrew, Welsh, Mandarin Chinese, Corsican, and Turkish.

This is Nana’s first tour back to Australia since 2005 so this was a chance for all Australians and Sydney Social 101 to come and see her and celebrate this visit. State Theatre was the perfect venue for her Sydney concert.

We were warmed up by local vocalist Alfredo Malabello who is Australia’s very own Italian son of song. Alfredo performance featured his sentimental The Red Balloon and a welcome Ciao, Baby. Then we enjoyed Nana’s wide-ranging program that included some of her great hits and Amy Winehouse’s Love Is a Losing Game.
It was a fantastic night and one that we will not forget for a while. To watch a little snippet of Nana Mouskouri live at State Theatre Sydney head over to our Instagram page.
