Exciting new Sydney bars as well as longtime favourites have been recognised among the nominees for Time Out Sydney’s 2020 Bar Awards.
Bulletin Place, PS40, Maybe Sammy, Double Deuce Lounge and 2019 Bar of the Year, Old Mate’s Place, were among the bars to receive nominations in multiple categories for the awards, which celebrate Sydney’s best bars and bartenders.
Eight categories have nominees this year, including: Best New Bar, Best Wine Bar, Best Cocktail Bar and Best Pub.
Sydney’s best drinks makers will vie for the the titles Bartender of the Year and Best Bar Team, while the Rising Talent Award is for an upcoming bartender whom Time Out predicts as a future star of the industry.
Two further category winners, which do not have nominees, will be announced at the awards. They are the overall Bar of the Year winner; and the Legend Award, which acknowledges an individual, team or institution that has made a significant contribution to the industry over a number of years.
All the award winners will be announced at the Powerhouse Museum on Monday December 9 during a ceremony hosted by comedian Matt Okine. The event will be a celebration of Sydney’s nightlife, anticipating the scrapping of the lockout laws by the
State Government, with food, drinks and entertainment.
