Sydney sparkles as Winter Garden brings magical winter wonderland to Cathedral Square from Friday 19th June – Sunday 19 July.
Transforming the forecourt of the iconic St Mary’s Cathedral, Winter Garden brings Australia’s largest open-air ice-skating rink to the heart of Sydney’s CBD.
The month long free festival of icy goodness creates a spectacular outdoor hub offering entertainment on and off the ice, for young and old. Indulge in the experience with themed nights, Olympic skaters, figure skating performances, music, pop-up bars and winter games.
Jump, slip and slide high in the sky on the inflatable slide, take to the slopes on the mechanical snowboard or if action isn’t your flavour relax with the petting zoo or grab a spot by the crackling fireplace and warm up in the Winter Garden Après Skate Lounge.
Once you’ve hung up the skates, or for members of the public and non-skaters, we invite all to bundle up at the European styled Café Del Mar Bar and sip on one of their delicious Belvedere Silver Lining orGluhwein in the Lounge and indulge in the gourmet food (Agape Organic Food, Authentic Turkish Gozleme, German Sausag hut, Portino Trattoria Italian, Teppanyaki Noodles and Woodstax Pizzas) and wine offerings.
Like bread to butter – smooth, creamy chocolate to the crisp winter air is a true delight. Treat yourself and your loved ones at the pop up Lindt Chocolate Café or spoil the little ones with the Lindt Hot Chocolate and Skate Package (includes Winter Garden Festival Ceramic Mug).
Andrew Lemon, Director of Winter Garden says, “The buzz at Winter Garden is amazing. It appeals to both children and adults and I love the look of wonder everyone gets when they arrive. It’s the best excuse in Sydney to come out of hibernation to enjoy winter outdoors on our ice skating rink and festival rides.”
“This year I’m excited to be working with my favourite charity, the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation. We’re going to donate money raised from our Snow boarding activity to them, aiming to raise $20,000 over the month. And we’ll also have some of the kids to the event to experience the fun first hand.”
Ice-skating sessions run for 50 minutes and once the legs have run out of steam, the Winter Garden has the perfect igloo just for you…
Yes, you read that right. Six private igloos will be available to rent for Brunch (11-2pm), Sundowner (2.30 – 5.30pm) or Evening (6-10pm) sessions. Housing 20-25 people pick from the three licenced igloos (Master Igloo, The Lounge, The Cigar Room) or make it a little more intimate in the Games Room or The Play House holding 10 to 15 people respectively.
Decorate and dress up as you please, the igloos are ideal for a ‘frozen’ birthday party extravaganza, or for something more sophisticated an après celebration or corporate function. All igloos include seating and tables within, with additional 10 people to be included in outdoor fenced area on request.
