Winter is almost here! But good news, delicious gelato can be enjoyed all year round! Unlike ice- cream which should be served at -18°C to -25°C, gelato is best served at -12°C to -14°C. The effect of this temperature difference is that whilst gelato is not as cold as ice-cream it still retains a rich creamy consistency .The warmer mouth feel makes gelato the perfect cool dessert for winter and means you can say goodbye to brain freeze and a numb palate! If you are in need of a gelato recommendation to satisfy your cravings RivaReno Gelato is a must-try!
Located on Crown Street in Darlinghurst and at Barangaroo, their authentic Italian gelato is always ultra-fresh as they make their gelato every single morning and also when needed throughout the day. With a silky and velvety texture RivaReno gelatos are full of flavour and the flavours are instantly recognisable. “RivaReno is not about gimmick, or show. It is all about the quality and freshness. We let the gelato speak for itself.” The gelato is made in the onsite laboratorio using alpine milk and cream from the pastures high up in the Stura Valley, Piedmont. RivaReno Gelato contains no hydrogenated fat, preservatives, anti-oxidants and artificial colourings. They use only very high quality and prestigious ingredients from Italy, abroad and Australia.
RivaReno offers 26 soft and creamy gelatos and four granitas, using fresh ingredients including single origin Valrhona chocolate, caramelized pecans and ‘high altitude’ mascarpone, as well as the best pistachios, hazelnuts and almonds, direct from Italy. Best-sellers include Pistachio Bronte (Sicilian pistachios); Cremino RivaReno (white chocolate and hazelnut ganache with layers of gianduia); New York-New York (organic Canadian maple syrup with caramelised pecans). A range of seasonal sorbets made with 60% real fruit include fresh lychee, kiwi, pear, apricot, white peach and banana. No flavourings are added whatsoever. My personal favourite? Ricotta E Fichi which is ricotta gelato, prepared using sheep’s milk ricotta, combined with whole cooked and caramelised figs. Not only does RivaReno sell great Gelato, they have just expanded their menu to include delicious crepes and waffles which go perfectly with gelato.
As well as great gelato, RivaReno also has great looking interiors. RivaReno recently unveiled a sleek new look at both its original store in Darlinghurst and the brand new Barangaroo store, now featuring a darker colour pallet, beautiful oak and Carrara marble imported from Italy. Both have state of the art gelato-making facilities, and also counters that keep the gelato at the perfect temperature.
With delicious gelato and great interiors, the only issue with RivaReno Gelato is….. trying to work out which gelato you are going to have!
