Day 3 of Mercedes Benz Fashion week – and Sydney Social 101 has started of the morning with Ginger & Smart. The PR team must have woke on the wrong side of the bed as they gave me Channel 7 Natalie Barr’s seat! Would have been so awkward, but Natalie was a sweetheart and let me sit by her side until I could find my place.

Ginger & Smart’s collection is titled ‘Latitude’ and the predominant silhouette is slightly undone with gently asymmetric drop waists to keep the profile grounded. My favourite trend – slits – appear in the fluid pants, dresses and on the shoulders and hems. They add a delightful movement, balancing the structure with soft femininity.

The label have also crafted their own lace, drawing on Australian flora and landscape – emulating desert rose, wattle and delicate seed pods. The brand combine constructed silk plumes along with soft printed silks that burst with wild spider orchids, ghost gum, and rolling sand dunes. The feminine qualities are grounded with the accessories, such as their Crusader Bootie with the rubber tread.

The collection is completely wearable and will be perfect after the long winter, when spring rolls around.
