After two killer shows featuring some of Australia’s favourite up and coming artists, Red Bull Sound Select returns for a third epic installment this month, promising to deliver electronic music at its finest at its new venue at The Civic Underground.
The May show exceeded all expectations with an All-Star Aussie hip hop lineup including Sampa the Great and B Wise, with the night centred around a celebration and exploration of Sydney’s rich cultural identity with a nod to the artists’ African heritage.
After two sell-out Red Bull Sound Selects at the Chippendale Hotel, the popular monthly series is excited to announce a new venue – The Civic Underground. The Civic Underground is a right of passage for Sydney-siders and is located in the heart of the city, offering punters three levels of awesomeness. The real fun kicks in downstairs underground, where the room is decked out with a world-class state of the art sound system. The new venue offers more capacity allowing more music lovers to experience Red Bull Sound Select.
The June Red Bull Sound Select showcase will ruffle some feathers as three electronic music innovators and visionaries will be rolled out for the next installment. Headlining the night is analogue synthesist Harvey Sutherland, playing a live show with his band Bermuda. A cult-figure in the scene, his music has been played and appreciated worldwide. Joining him on the bill is experimental musician Lucy Cliché, a force in the Sydney electronic music scene for over ten years, and nuanced house musician Hubert Clarke Jnr, combining his love for sampling with live performance to deliver what is sure to be a memorable set.
