After a long delay, the Aje show kicked off – and by god was it worth the wait. The scented candle alter soothed everyones frazzled heads after a long day of shows – But the designers Adrian Norris and Edwina Robinson have endured so much more in the lead up to fashion week.

“It’s always a crazy time, we spend over six months preparing for our MBFWA showcase, and even in our fourth year we still feel the nerves!”

The Aje team have spent the last several weeks working with their creative team on the runway design and show styling and focusing on last minute preparations, interviews and PR. “Lots of late nights and packed days.”

But it’s all worth it right?

“We’re feeling excited and extremely lucky to be involved in the 20th year of MBFWA.”

The stunning SS15/16 collection is titled ‘Vihara’ and Aje were inspired by the pared-back beauty of monastic life.

“It’s quite a shift from our previous themes – which range from American 1920s explorer Osa Johnson to ancient Greek ceramics – and is all about interpreting the colours, shapes and textures of secular life in to modern and beautiful clothing.”

MBFWA’s theme is “Always Trending” but Adrian and Edwina had the following to say on trends:

“As designers, we devote our collection’s aesthetic completely to the theme rather than being influenced by current trends.”

Their personal theme certainly carried from not only the clothes which were etherial and effortless but the stunning runway itself. The audience left reflecting on the beautiful experience just shared.
