2015 Sealink KANGAROO ISLAND FEASTIVAL

May 1st 2015 – May 8th 2015

When I first arrived in Sydney, I did the obligatory backpacker route around Australia: East Coast, Melbourne, Ocean Rd, Adelaide and then Kangaroo Island. If I were to try my very hardest to think of a more ‘Aussie’ sounding place, I’d be hard pressed.

For those of you that haven’t had the chance to go to Kangaroo Island, it is just as magical as one might imagine! If you’re keen to check it out for yourself, you can head and have the added bonus of enjoying a selection of local gourmet delights from events staged around the island’s natural pristine wilderness. Guests will dine on the island’s rich history and savor the fresh produce and globally acclaimed wines and beverages that Kangaroo Island is renowned for.

The SeaLink Kangaroo Island FEASTival sets itself aside from other food and wine festivals through its signature style of providing a degustation of extraordinary dining experiences that are diverse and intimate, enhanced further by the exquisite natural beauty of this peaceful island.

The menus of FEASTival are a historic fusion of ingredients that celebrate the heritage of the island and all it has to offer, resulting in a truly unique culinary experience for its guests.

Following a successful launch in 2012, the South Australian SeaLink Kangaroo Island FEASTival is an 8 day gastronomic celebration incorporating over 30 individual events whereby guests can book a table from the variety of themes available. Such themes include the intimate SALife Table Surfing, Cliff Edge Canapés, Cheese Making Picnics, Breakfast with the Birds, the KI Hot House event and many more. All of which are hosted by Australia’s leading celebrity and local chefs, which will bring the best of Kangaroo Island to your plate.

This year the SeaLink Kangaroo Island FEASTival will welcome celebrity chef and celebrated author Stephanie Alexander as the ‘face’ of the event.

Stephanie Alexander is regarded as one of Australia’s great food educators. Her reputation has been earned through her thirty years as an owner-chef in several restaurants, as the author of 14 influential books and hundreds of articles about food matters, and for her groundbreaking work in creating the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation.

Stephanie’s achievements are driven by her desire to break down people’s anxieties about cooking and to emphasise the beauty of fresh produce fresh from the garden. Stephanie’s fifth book, The Cook’s Companion is regarded as an Australian classic.
