As the temperatures plummet in Sydney and schoolies is almost over, it’s perhaps no surprise that many of us are longing for the feel of sunshine on our skin and a cocktail in our hand. Byron Bay has long been a destination of choice of many Sydney-siders. Close enough to warrant a long weekend trip, whilst still providing a warmer climate and tropical escape from the hum of city life.

We’ve put in the leg work for you guys to provide our picks for the ‘Best of Byron’ when it comes to places to stay and escape, unwind and recharge.

Byron at Byron

If you’re looking for relaxation, comfort and a beach side retreat, this could very well be right up your street.

Winter days roll on here at The Byron at Byron, it is truly a lovely time of year to visit our coastal paradise. If you can’t get away soon our Spring package offers exceptional value for a short escape or a long getaway. Read on to learn more about this and other happenings at the Resort. Social101.com has been a fan of The Byron at Byron since our first visit back in 2012, and it’s great to see that what made the resort so wonderful then is still so apparent today.

The 18-hectare rainforest setting is so pristine and serene, it’s hard to believe its home to an all-suite resort. But dotted amid the ferns and palms, you’ll find 91 sumptuous, entirely self-contained private sanctuaries, a multi-award-winning day spa and a world-class restaurant.

The jewel on the crown at the heart of it all, is a sparkling infinity pool, made for contemplating nature’s wonders while sinking back on a daybed, with an expertly crafted cocktail in hand.

Inspired by nature, The Byron at Byron Spa celebrates the majestic rainforest surrounds and embraces the truly Australian identity of The Byron at Byron. Linger in a sanctuary of relaxation before your treatment and immerse yourself in the mineral spa, luxurious shower and steam room.

There’s also an infrared sauna that takes you away to a place of mindful relaxation. Forget claustrophobic sauna and steam rooms, as this is the ultimate in heat and light therapy.

The Signature Spa Menu is the ultimate treatment experience for you to breathe in, reconnect and restore balance and calm to the body and mind. We couldn’t recommend the facial more readily, we’d go as far to suggest that it’s the best we’ve ever had!

Elements of Byron

Elements at Byron provides a resort-type escape, which leaves guests feeling like they’re taken a break on the Med for a few days. We had the privilege of staying at Elements of Byron for two nights. The accommodation of choice was a two-bedroom superior villa, which was conveniently located next to the adult-only pool and bar (#winning!).

The stunning villa boasts a covered terrace with cosy burner cover and BBQ, along with an ‘indoor / outdoor’ freestanding bath complete with botanical bath salts included in the room. It’s certainly a home away from home and provides plenty of room for groups of friends, couples and families. I travelled alone for this trip, and it’s even suitable for solo travellers looking for a bit of a recharge and retreat.

Elements of Byron has free beach yoga every morning at 7am and is such a sunning way to stay the day. With stunning views of the lighthouse and sprawling ocean and sand, you can be forgiven for daydreaming that this is your life now (#NOFILTER). Fear not, sunrise yoga goes ahead rain, hail or shine and is hosted is the spa or pool terrace as an alternative.

Byron is known for its vast choice of breakfast and brunch options; one can be forgiven for venturing outside of the resort for their feed. We sampled the breakfast at its restaurant as part of our package, and honestly were blown away. Diners can choose from a continental breakfast buffet, and can also choose a main from the menu, which is curated from local produce and has options to whet most appetites.

The heated adults-only pool boasts Mexican pool snacks, frozen margherita cocktails and day beds to relax on and laze the day away with a good book.

The main pool has a hot tub and fire pit and is also surrounded by day beds and an adult area with a suntrap complimented perfectly by floating daybeds.

If you’re looking for more beach than resort retreat, this has you covered, as just a short five-minute walk from the main pool leads you to a private beach with sprawling sands and surfers as a backdrop. The perfect place to unwind, refresh and recharge.

Food option at Elements are aplenty

Azure Bar and Grill offers casual Modern Australian cuisine, with an extensive menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, to guests of the resort and public. The diverse, family-friendly menu, is thoughtfully curated by Executive Chef, Simon Jones. The menu is seasonal and locally sourced so changes regularly.

Breeze Poolside Bar and Eats is located at the main pool area where guests can simultaneously relax and dine in the cabana. Much like the surroundings, the menu offers vibrant and fresh food, wines and cocktails. This poolside eatery caters to everyone’s needs, including the little ones.

Botanica Beach Club is where you want to be on a late summer afternoon. Allow the breath-taking panoramic sea-view to help you unwind with one of Botanica’s signature cocktails made with Byron’s Brookie’s Gin; a unique Elements of Byron only experience.

Summer Salt is located at the adult’s exclusive pool allowing guests to indulge in some time away from the kids. Enjoy the ambient music along with delectable Mexican food and beverages in our exclusive cabanas, which emulate the ideal backdrop for your holiday; childfree relaxation.

This winter, Elements in conjunction with HABITAT Byron, are offering families and travellers a special offer of 20% off all room rates (minimum 3-night stay. This offer entails, daily continental breakfast and an exclusive ‘North Beach Passport’ with special offers on a collection of activities and retailers in the area from Zephyr Horses, The Beach People, Children of the Tribe and Tigmi Trading.
