Australia’s most fabulous festival, the Sydney Mardi Gras is returning to town this March 2016 and the Opera House is lighting up its sails and dusting off its sequinned stages for the Rainbow Room extravaganza.
Over three fantastical nights you’ll be treated to a star-studded line up of comedy, chaos, cabaret and club. Shows include Courtney Act and Trevor Ashley’s take on Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell with Gentleman Prefer Blondes. Gretel Killeen is back on stage with her famous smart arse friends as they leave you in stitches with Smart Arsing. Marney McQueen hits the stage with a wild night of tomfooleries in this cabaret of duets. DJ Jimmy Dee is kicking off a classic night of 1999 glamour and gayness (or is it gayness and glamour?) over two nights with two very different, very camp shows.
There are several performances each night and if you pick up a multi-pack there’s a nice discount. The premium cabaret tables offer a chance to get close to the action and closer to the bar or try the standard seating for a great view of all the pizazz and excitement.
With all this flirty fun on offer, you’ll be bound to find a bit of fabulous hilarity for your night. Check out the details below for more information.
GENTLEMEN PREFER BLOKES
COURTNEY ACT & TREVOR ASHLEY
The Seven-Year-Itch Tour
3, 4 March, 9.15pm
5 March, 6.00pm
Screen sirens Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell had it all! They were glamorous, could belt out a tune and diamonds were their best friend. Fame, fortune and scores of suitors were inevitable. In the parallel universe of today the girls are still glamorous belters with a penchant for diamonds, but with one not-so-little difference: these two little girls from Little Rock are two little boys from Darlinghurst.
Mega-watt stars of Australian drag Courtney Act & Trevor Ashley once again team up in their seven-year-itch reunion tour and take on some of history’s greatest duos as only they can at the Rainbow Room.
GRETEL KILLEEN and her famous smart arse friends.
3 & 4 March, 7.15pm
Join witty and wild Gretel Killeen and a hand-picked shemozzle of her desperate pals as they throw away their high profile respectability and become utter ratbags. Featuring a new ‘cast’ each evening the show will be a unique and hilarious one-off as contenders expose their souls, sins, secrets and questionable genius in this fabulous soiree of smart arses.
Beauty! Fashion! Gags and Celebrity Duets!
5 March, 8.30pm
Celebrity Bikini Waxer Rosa Waxoffski is back to blow the roof off the Sydney Opera House Studio with her hair-larious new show Rosaoke where four lips are better than two! Featuring an incredible line-up of celebrity guest duets, including special guest star Boris Longschlongadongski, Russia’s biggest pianist.
Expect a crazy night of unpredictable shenanigans as this cabaret goddess takes the stage!
THE ALL-STAR DRAG REVUE
3 & 4 March, 11pm
We’re going to party like it’s 1999 on the golden mile, as we bring you a night of classics. All your favourite queens of Oxford Street, past and present, will come together for two nights of campness showcasing all their greatest hits. Both nights will be different, so maybe you’ll have to come twice?
Featuring DJ Jimmy Dee, get ready for a night of glamour and gayness. But not necessarily in that order.
