If you’ve been paying attention to this site then you can’t fail to have noticed just how excited we are about Electric Gardens in Centennial Park this Saturday 23rd January.  I’m really not exaggerating when I say this could be the best electronic music festival in Sydney in a long time, possibly ever. And we have 2 sets of VIP passes to give away!

The two Aussie guys behind Electric Gardens, Damian Gelle and Anton Marmot (T1000), met in London in the 90s, bonded over a mutual love of music and were eventually responsible for creating the famous SW4 festival in Clapham in 2004. Over the next 10 years they grew it into the largest electronic music festival in London, showcasing the cream of international DJs and hosting  70,00 people over 2 days. So they know a thing about putting on major dance music events.

Having moved back to Sydney (for the weather and family, they say) they are now applying their knowledge, experience and, most importantly, their list of DJ contacts to the challenge of finally giving Sydney the electronic music festival it’s been crying out for. Electric Gardens is a deliberately boutique affair for grown ups who appreciate a higher quality production  with those little extra touches (lasers, confetti canons and fireworks anyone?) alongside their international, top notch house and techno music.

Great attention has been paid to the details such as good quality food and drink. There’s a craft beer stand hosted by Sydney favourites Young Henry’s and the bars will serve good quality wine. There are lockers to stash your purse/keys/jumper as well as chargers for your phone, numerous decent toilet facilities, free water stations and even a fairground! Nothing brings on a festival rush quite like being flung around on a waltzer to your favourite tunes, trust me. The lush green surroundings of Centennial Park also lend themselves to a more discerning crowd and the fabulous VIP area, The Hangout, run by local stalwarts, Return To Rio, provides the icing on the cake. It promises extra bars, upscale loos, garden furniture and shelter, not to mention an extra stage with second sets from some of the DJs.

But, most importantly, where Electric Gardens really scores is with the music. Have you seen this line up? Fatboy Slim, Erick Morillo, John Digweed, Dubfire, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Norman Jay MBE to name just some of my personal faves. It is a truly incredible array of international DJs of huge experience still at the top of their game and pushing the edge of quality electronic music. And best of all, they have staggered, extended set times. None of this dashing about to catch 10 minutes of your favourite cos they are only on for 45 minutes at the same time as someone else you’ve been dying to see.

Who am I most excited about seeing at Electric Gardens? Most definitely Norman Cook … aka Fatboy Slim. The man redefined electronic music and introduced the pop world to heavy electro funky beats. His live presence knocks the socks off kids half his age, and there’s always a bit of sly humour shoved into his sets. He’s a funk riot!

Would love to win these two VIP tickets, as I would love to see Norman Jay ripping his absolute old school classics in the amazing sunshine with all my friends! The legend never disappoints and always gets the crowd pumping 🙂

Looking forward to seeing John Digweed. Seen him every time he comes to Sydney. First time was back in the 90’s. Saw him in New York at club Twilo in 2000. And at Chinese Laundry in 2014. He smashes it every time.

Would be very excited to win so I could see James Zabiela sexually assault his iPad again, for the first time since Global Gathering 2011!! 🙂

I’m most excited to see Jeremy Olander to be honest.
I know the rest of the lineup is incredible, but when Olander was here last, I literally cried with joy during his set.
It was like the magic and wonder of old school Disney movies weaving together in audio form.
It was like I was riding rainbows of sound through my soul.

    Can’t wait.

If I could get to see Digweed it would take me back in time to when my 2 oldwe brothers used to play his sets before leaving their under age brother (me) to go out and watch him live in Manchester and Liverpool. I never got to see him with my bros but would love to see if he still throws it down like he used to!

The whole line up is mad but it would have to be Eric Morillo. So much energy in every mix he does and is a top tier show man on par with the best of the tech & house scene now that he’s gotten back to dropping proper bombs!!

Ahhhhh no question about it, Fatboy Slim! The last time I saw him I was in the pool at Potato Head in Bali and he was the act for the night. One of the best nights of my life, what a talented guy, would LOVE to see him create magic again.
    Eat. Sleep. Fatboy Slim. REPEAT!

Ive always been obsessed with Bedrock Records since the beginning, so this is an unmissable event for me! Always keen for Digweed and Nick warren but need to see Henry Saiz, Nic Fanciulli and Hernan Cattaneo as I’m a long time fan of their music but haven’t had the privilege of seeing them live yet!

I would be so excited to see every single one of them, I’m a massive electro/techno fan! But most of all would be the legend fatboy slim himself and also John digweed. My boyfriend and I went to see fatboy slim in Belfast, Northern Ireland for our first date, and what an amazing experience it would be to see him 6 years later now we are living the dream in sydney!!

I’d love to see Norman Jay again, he brings back so many great memories of seeing him at summer festivals in Sydney years ago. I have a friend arriving from New York Saturday morning who I haven’t seen in 18 years & the last time I saw her was seeing Norman at Bondi Beach & it was unforgettable. I’m so disappointed to miss Norman’s set at 1pm because of her flight but could make 3.30pm at The Hangout & I would love to surprise her…it was be amazing if I won!

I’ve rare-grooved to Norman Jay, had a Renaissance to Digweed, expressed a Strict Rhythm to Erick and gone Way Out West for Nick Warren. I’ve had a Deep Dish with Dubfire and bounced on Brighton Beach to Fatboy at The Big Beat Boutique – I’ve even been to Hull (What A Good Place To Be) but what I need now is to introduce my Aussie Angel to them and show her why I love it all. And I can do this in only one Electric day at this Garden Festival!
