The NBA and Tabcorp (TAB), the NBA’s official betting partner in Australia, have announced “Gary Payton’s Block Party,” a thrilling fan event celebrating basketball and the NBA on Saturday, March 23rd in Sydney. Headlined by NBA champion and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Gary Payton, this block party presented by TAB will transform Magic’s sports bar at Hotel Steyne on Manly Beach into the ultimate basketball hub. The festivities will include a viewing party for the game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Lakers at 1:30 p.m. on ESPN, opportunities for fans to meet Gary Payton, engaging Q&A sessions, chances to snap photos with the Larry O’Brien Trophy, appearances by local personalities, exciting NBA merchandise giveaways, and much more.
Famously known as “The Glove” for his exceptional defensive skills, Payton enjoyed a remarkable NBA career spanning 17 seasons. He clinched an NBA Championship with the Miami Heat in 2006 and earned the title of NBA Defensive Player of the Year in 1996. Payton boasts an impressive record of nine NBA All-Star selections and nine NBA All-Defensive First Team selections. In recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the sport, Payton was rightfully inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013.
