WINE ISLAND – TICKETS ON SALE NOW

It is known by a few that here at Social 101 we love a tipple (or two), so it seems fitting that we let you guys know all about a not-to-be missed, island festival for food and wine lovers alike, with the best backdrop of all, Sydney Harbour as the cherry on the top!
Tickets to Sydney’s most exciting wine festival this year, Wine Island will go on sale from Tuesday 1 September viawww.wineisland.com.au.

Over three days from Friday 13 November to Sunday 15 November, the wine lover’s paradise on Clark Island will wow food and wine enthusiasts with an impressive line up of winemakers, sommeliers and chefs who will showcase the best of their food and wine offerings through cellar door experiences, food huts and VIP island bar experiences.

The Bar H team along with Applejack Hospitality Group, Oysters Unplugged, Huon Aquaculture and The Hunter Valley Cheese Factory will offer a selection of their signature restaurant dishes and produce including dumplings and saltbush from Bar H; sangria, tuna poke and sliders from Applejack; as well as cheese plates and roaming oyster bars.

Wine Island event sommelier, Sam Payne will be joined by some of Australia’s top fellow sommeliers as well as over 100 new wave and traditional wines from Australia and New Zealand including Audrey Wilkinson (Hunter Valley NSW), Bunkers Wines (Margaret River WA), Digiorgio Family Wines (Coonawarra SA), Holm Oak (Tamar Valley TAS) and Sydney’s Nomad Online Cellar Door. Sydney’s Young Henry’s team will also be showcasing their beer, gin and cider at the festival.

Two ticket packages are available, GA and VIP over two sessions each day – 11.30am to 2.30pm and 4pm to 7pm.

·   GA ($79.90) includes return transfer to Circular Quay, Kirribili or Rose Bay via vintage ferries, a glass of sparkling, access to the SmoothFM island lounge, 10 wine tastings and glassware sponsored by Koonara Wines and masterclasses.

·   VIP ($179.90) includes return transfer to Circular Quay, Kirribili or Rose Bay via vintage ferries, wine glass packs from Koonara wines, unlimited wine tasting tokens, access to VIP Island Bar, complementary seafood and cheese bar, complementary sommelier service with some of Australia’s top sommeliers and VIP masterclasses.

Buoyant Bubbles – 12.00pm – 12.20pm
Start the day with some Aussie fizz and explore the many and varied styles of Australian sparkling wine from Prosecco and Moscato through to ‘methode traditionelle’ styles.

New Wave Wines – 12.45pm – 1.05pm
Discover new Australian wine styles and micro-producers in this tasting that explores the ‘New Wave’ of local drops.

We’re gonna need a bigger boat – 1.30pm – 1.50pm
We’ve pitched Australia’s best Shiraz regions and winemakers against each other for the top spot.  You be the judge.
 
The Arrr-npronounceables -4.30pm – 4.50pm
Don’t let these varieties’ tongue twister names stop you from tasting these wonderful but lesser-known wine styles.
 
‘Rock the Boat’ – Music & Wine Masterclass -5.15pm – 5.35pm
We’ll be matching a selection of premium Australian wines with music in this fun-filled tasting that’s set to excite all the senses!

We’re going to need a bigger boat -6.00pm – 6.20pm
