4th annual Le Dîner en Blanc Sydney ascends on the stairs of the Sydney Opera House
This weekend, for the fourth consecutive year, Sydney played host to the worldwide Epicurean phenomenon, Le Dîner en Blanc, at one of the city’s most iconic and spectacular locations – the Sydney Opera House.
The annual secret affair has become one of Sydney’s most sought after tickets, which this year saw 4,000 guests joining together for a night of merriment and indulgence under the stars. In attendance were a number of A-list Sydney and international personalities such as Jodi Anasta, Jordan Barrett, Georgia Fowler, Kris Smith, Bianca Cheah, Chloe Morello, Pip Edwards and many more.
Le Dîner en Blanc is strongly influenced by its Parisian roots, recalling the elegance and glamour of French savoir-vivreas guests who share a love of fashion, beauty and good taste. The mystery of not knowing the location until the very last moment on the day of the event adds to the magic of the evening. What began as a simple picnic in a Parisian park with a handful of friends in 1988, has now grown into an international sensation celebrated in over 60 cities in more than 25 countries around the world.
This year’s event saw a stylish crowd dressed in all white ascend en masse to the most remarkable Sydney location yet. The evening was filled with visually breathtaking moments including the waving of a cloth napkin to mark the beginning of the dinner and the lighting of sparklers to let guests know they are now free to mingle and dance. At the end of the evening, guests pack up all of their belongings, pick up all their litter and head back into the night, leaving behind no sign of their elegant revelry.
Last year’s event saw 4,000 foodies, fashion and cultural enthusiasts enjoy a breathtaking evening in Centennial Park, with previous locations including the sands of Bondi Beach and the front lawn of the Museum of Contemporary Art.
